Lalai

Sleep stories and night sounds

Lalai is a sleep app for people who want to be read to: long, slow stories told in a low voice, and a library of night sounds you can mix by hand.

What it is

Seven stories, about an hour each, told slowly enough to fall asleep in the middle of — a night train climbing through snow, a tea house in the rain, a glasshouse in winter. Each one has painted scenes that dissolve as the night goes on.

Alongside them, 198 night sounds recorded indoors and out: rain on canvas, a river under a hull, wind through pines, a stove. Mix any of them together, or start from one of 164 blends already balanced by ear. There is a sleep timer that fades out rather than stopping dead.

What it does not do

No accounts, no sign-up, no email address. No advertisements. No analytics — we do not measure what you listen to, because we did not build the means to. See the Privacy Policy, which is short for that reason.

Getting it

Lalai is coming to the App Store and Google Play. One story and fourteen sounds are free forever; the rest comes with a monthly subscription that starts with a 7-day free trial.
